Empty Second World War ammunition boxes rust away on a Tunisian hillside where they were discarded by British or German troops in 1943. Barbed wire and other vestiges of the combat that year remain in place. In the 1980s the Tunisian army cleared most of the Second World War mines that had continued to kill and maim local people.
